Something is going on with Plax because teams are staying away unless they have injuries during training camp. That puts up a red flag for me. At least Edwards is getting workouts and is younger.

  2. Phins78 Says:

Sheesh. Crickets in here today. Expected a lot more with the open of training camp. I had to go back to the Herald just to talk some football.

No loyalty in here I guess. Everyone was here when the Herald was shut down but as soon as the blog starts back up people run right back. Addicts! ๐Ÿ™‚

Well, Jon has had his “fun” also. Right?

  4. Kris Says:

Edwards was great for the jets….and he made some HUGE catches against us….Osama Bin Edwards…and Chad Johnson…sounds like the makings of a nice receiving core….throw in Bess…and and we just got formidable….

  5. Phins78 Says:

    “Osama Bin Edwards” ,,,,,,,lol

  6. Phins78 Says:

odinseye where you at? Westerman with two sacks today! They said he is standing out.

  7. Phins78 Says:

Tweeted from Omar the racist sob.

“The stud rookies are consistently good every day.”

Consistency in our rookies?! Can it be true? Maybe we will have some legit talent in the rookies this year? But what will all of the Ireland super haters do if that comes true? Stay tuned.

  8. odinseye Says:

This guy isn’t a Rookie, but I read this from an article and had to post it.

    Cam Wake,

Though his sacks declined from 14 to 8.5 last season, a deeper analysis reveals this:

โ€ข Wake drew 13 holding penalties last season, six more than any other NFL player.

โ€ข Pro Football Focus rated him the leagueโ€™s 16th best player for 2011, and first among 28 qualifying 3-4 outside linebackers. He also was second against the run, displayed huge growth in an area that was considered a shortcoming when he entered the league.

โ€ข His 80.5 combined sacks, hits and hurries were second most among all defensive players for 2011, and his 52 quarterback hurries were the leagueโ€™s most โ€“ eight ahead of second-place DeMarcus Ware.
    ——————————————————————-

    Pretty Good – Pretty Good!!!!

  9. Phins78 Says:

    Nice news on Wake.

In other news Moore has had two more days of training camp and 5 more years in the league than Tannehill and still got beat by the rookie today at practice. That makes a third mediocre to bad practice in a row for Moore.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Moore is inconsistent and sucks when facing real competition (playoff teams). Will he ever put it together?

Maybe they should have traded him when he had value because if Tannehill keeps playing well and wins the backup role relegating Moore to 3rd string we will be lucky to get a bag of balls in a trade for him.

  10. thavafin Says:

If you trade Moore, and I’m not entirely sold that you do, then wait for an injury or a team that runs into the need. Of course, the chargers are there now for a backup.

  11. B33RCA53 Says:

nobody can stop Wake. There should have been over 30 holding calls atleast

  12. thavafin Says:

3 days worth of training camp, we need a new post Jon. People are stagnant on here and isn’t this the week most have been waiting for since May???

  13. odinseye Says:

    Jon,

I have to agree with Thava. This place needs to be information CENTRAL.

For the past two weeks I have been dropping links to this place on other sites. We need frsh info. Just copy/pasting news reports-updates-comments would be fine. All the newspapers, big sites and ultra popular sites(nfl.com/espnsports.com/cbsports.com, etc, etc)do it. They all copy and share information. There’s nothing wrong at all with you doing it too.

Heck, all Mando diid today post practice was copy/paste Philbins presser.

Lets get this place rolling. 3 days into camp! The joint should be jumpin!

I was bummed out about it. Like you 78, I expected a ton of great conversations to be happening here. I think Armando’s BLOG(not his write ups/info)I think his blog should be boycotted at all cost.

But like you, if no one is here……………………….(sigh)…………..

I’ll always come here first Jon, but we need to get the info rolling.

Info – Info – Info! That’s they key I believe. It’s great to have good people to talk and argue with. But flodding this site with news – info and updates is KEY. It’s what will bring people back.

If there is anything any of us can to help, please let us know.

    ————————————————————————————–

WHAT? Are you joking? Trade talk over Moore showing rust his first two practices back?

If Tannehill keeps playing well? I think you’re being a bit premature on both counts. Tannehill hasn’t even suited up yet.

Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill was not in full pads because he is required to receive the same two-day acclimatization period before donning them. That will happen Wednesday for the first-round pick, but he still had to deal with everyone else running at full speed in pads.
    ————————————–

I applaud Tannehill and his effort. He came in at a challenging moment and got some work in.

But trade talks and, “If Tannehill keeps playing well…..”

Slow it down just a little bit Brother ๐Ÿ˜‰ Tannehill didn’t even wear Pads and he did throw multiple picks.

  16. odinseye Says:

**Throw Tannehill to the Wolv…..Iinto the Mix?**

    *If Not Now….WHEN?**
    ——————————————————————-

I was initially in the “Start Tanney Now” camp. Bad record the year before, new Coaching Staff, new Systems. We’re re-tooling, if not outrightly re-building……..so why not?

After a shaky start with some questionable early OTA performances, I started second guessing the logic. With the mini-hold out it became inevitable. Then it became obvious that Tannehill is exactly who and what a lot of us had already realized. A very inexperienced young QB, that was clearly over-drafted and nowhere near ready for prime time.

I’ve changed my thinking on the matter. Other than Greg Cote, I don’t know anyone that is still advocating starting Tannehill day 1. This brings up my question. If not now………WHEN?

I get a kick out of those who say we can’t start him now, but if we suck by mid season throw him in there. Their reasoning being two-fold. We can’t start him now because he’s not ready and losing games right away will ruin his confidence. Then, the old, he needs time to acclimate himself with the speed of the Pro Game.

Well, he’ll get mostly 3rd team reps throughout Training Camp. Then he’ll get 3rd & 4th team scrub packages against 3rd & 4th team scrub defenses through a measely 4 pre-season games.

How is any of that going to make him more ready for a mid-season suck-fest?

Where in all of this will he get any of the things he needs to develop? Working against the fringe/depth/bubble players will not exactly prepare him for facing the best Defensive Units the AFC East has to offer.

Throwing him in at mid season if we’re sucking doesn’t seem like the brightest idea either. Were worried he’s not good enough to win games for us right now. OK, we don’t want him holding back the rest of the team. But if the rest of the team is sucking, then we SHOULD throw him to the wolv……into the mix? With everything going wrong, the team in chaos…………THAT would be a good situation for him to try and start developing? Those circumstances will help his proffessional confidence grow?

On the other hand, if we’re not sucking and not losing by mid-season, it’s best we keep him on the bench all year? Then we go back to the begining and start with OTA’s all over again? How would THAT be helping his confidence, his development and acclimating him to the speed of the Pro Game?

I’m not going to advocate starting Tannehill day 1. But for the same reasons some say wait, some will make the argument not to wait. Using the same circumstances, just flip the reasoning and attempted logic.

Having said all that, I’ll ask one more time. If we don’t throw Tannehill to the Wolves Day 1……….then when should we?

  17. odinseye Says:

    Phins 78,

I have to correct myself. Above I copy and pasted this from The Phinsider:

Rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill was placed in the unenviable position of making his training camp debut on this day. He was not in full pads because he is required to receive the same two-day acclimatization period before donning them. That will happen Wednesday for the first-round pick, but he still had to deal with everyone else running at full speed in pads.
    ———————————————————————————

Then I went through the Photo Gallery from training. I saw Photo after Photo of Tannehill………..WITH shoulder pads and helmet. The only difference between him Garrad, Moore and Devlin were the pants. Apparently wearing the orange shorts kept Tannehill from violating a rule per the new CBA.

Is it me or what? Am I missing something? What kind of dumb ass rule is this and how much time and money did the pencil pushing geeks waste working this one out?
    ————————————————

My original point was that Tannehill was throwing without shoulder pads(or so I thought). Then I got side tracked checking out this ridiculous rule contained in the new CBA.

If this rule is so negligible and easy to circumvent, why do they even bother? Is this how they justify some extra overtime on their checks? Don’t they know there are kids going to bed hungry tonight here in America?

I think for every dumb ass rule like this that these attorneys “hammer-out” and waste time and money on, I think for everyone of them they should be required to perform 10 hours of community service at the local Salvation Army Center!

(There…..I’m done. Sorry for the rant, but this just irked me the wrong way) ๐Ÿ˜‰

  18. thavafin Says:

It has become more and more obvious that a good portion of this fan base was so displeased with the drafting of RT they will poke holes and criticize anything they can grab for, no matter what. Simply because the are jaded over the pick. Didn’t take the DE or WR “they” wanted. Dude can’t have a good practice and be praised for it? Or have some positive feedback from some fans? I was reading some genius on another site spew about how the INTs RT threw that *bounced OFF the WRs hands* was his fault because of the ball he throws and not the WR whose hands it bounced off of!!!
Any other draft pick comes in on their first day and looks as good as RT did and it would be oooooooos and aaahhhhhhs.
I understand one practice means little to nothing. But it was a very GOOD and encouraging practice and I don’t get why some just can’t accept that.
Some fin fans think they got it soooo bad ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
    Get over it.
    ๐Ÿ˜‰

  19. Phins78 Says:

odinseye Tanny through two picks and they were both tipped passes the reporters say should have been caught by the receivers.

And I’m not saying Tannehill is the man. I’m saying he’s so far behind and not to be trusted starting yet he STILL looked better than Moore. They have to wear pads in games too so Moore better get used to it I guess.

His play didn’t drop when he put the pads on, he’s been inconsistent from the first day of otas. Hell, he’s been inconsistent his entire career. 29 right? By now he should be coming out and killing these practices.

First three practices odinseye, he’s been up and down in three now. lol and you’re saying his “first two practices back” while forgetting Garrard didn’t even play last year and is winning the job outright as of now. What’s Moore’s excuse on that one?

I’m not hating on Moore for the sake of hating. I’m not hating at all actually, I just want the guy to look and sound interested, like a guy in a battle for his job. But he hasn’t yet, and that hurts the team. I’m hoping he puts together a great practice today because I want the coaches decision to be a tough one. That’s what is best for the team.

What’s not best is making excuses for the guy. I’ve never heard so many and the one that pi$$es me off is the “He’s a gamer not a practice guy”. To which first of all there is no proof that he is a gamer unless we are counting games against inferior teams and secondly, and I have believed this my whole life, you play like you practice. If you can’t get through a practice and look like a pro how are you going to turn it on every game? imo it just leads to inconsistent play.

odinseye you are suggesting I slow down and I understand. But I wasn’t saying Tanny is Marino and I don’t want you to make that mistake. You know me better than that, I’m very cautious with my praise of rookie players as well as my criticisms. But we don’t have time to slow down my man! First preseason game is 11 days awayand a starter should be named the following week.

That gives Moore about three 18 days to get it together. Really about 15 because of days off. So Moore has exactly two weeks to start showing Philbin he can be the man. Sounds like we don’t have time to slow down and wait for him. The team needs him now! ๐Ÿ™‚

  20. Phins78 Says:

was going to say three weeks but it’s actually shorter, that’s why the
    “three 18 days” typo.

  21. Phins78 Says:

“Is it me or what? Am I missing something? What kind of dumb ass rule is this and how much time and money did the pencil pushing geeks waste working this one out?”

LOL. Yes it seems very stupid. Those little thigh pads is what they consider full pads? hahahaha The helmet and shoulder pads are everything when you’re a QB, you don’t even feel the thigh pads and you only have to wear rib protection if you are injured there. I don’t know.

  22. Phins78 Says:

thavafin good post. I’ve read a lot of that too.

It’s almost as if some fans WANT certain players to bust so they can be proven right. ‘See, I told ya’, kind of thinking. ‘If they just took the player I suggested we would be all set’.

I’m curbing my enthusiasm because I know one practice doesn’t mean much. He needs to string a bunch together because like I said, consistency is the key imo.

It’s okay to be happy he did well in his first practice while also understanding that could and probably will change as time goes on here. He is still very inexperienced.

  23. Phins78 Says:

odinseye remember that these practices are different then normal. With two teams lined up the qbs are all getting reps with 1st,2nd, and 3rd team players. So Tannehill isn’t working exclusively with threes,,,,,for now.

And to answer your question, I don’t believe any of us are qualified to make a judgement as to when Tannehill should start. It’s kind of a silly debate because there are so many factors we are unaware of. The coaches know these guys not only on a personal level but they see them practice every day as well. The coaches know where his head is at, how well he’s retaining the playbook, and most importantly, who gives the team the best chance to win right now.

So that’s who they will play, whomever gives the team the best chance to win now. We have to remember most fans aren’t fanatics like we are. They couldn’t care less about Tannehill gaining experience, they want to see their team win now, even if it’s only 8 games. And we have to remember there are veteran players who would be pissed off to no end if the coaches started a player who obviously wasn’t ready and it effected their season and ability to sign contracts with other teams next season due to declining numbers from starting with a rookie who isn’t ready.

So do you start him midseason when the going gets tough? Your idea is this will harm him because he hasn’t had time with the ones or against the ones. But I believe the thinking in that regard is that the pressure is off at that point. Teams going nowhere in that example so it’s not like he has to carry a huge burden on his shoulders. The vets realize they didn’t play well enough and that is the reason they are at the point they are at and won’t lose respect for the coaches if they bring the kid in. And the coaches tell Tannehill to go in and have fun, don’t put too much pressure on yourself, relax and work the plays.

In the end I always have trouble debating these points because I don’t have enough information. We have to trust what the coaches are doing for now.

  24. thavafin Says:

    Phins
I think we are on the same page with your previous post. And I think we finally have a coach we can TRUST, which we haven’t for a looong time.

    Phins 78 and Thava,

I wasn’t cutting on Tannehill in the least. Not in any way. It was nice for him to have a good showing. I was making a joke about Tannehill having a good practice and suddenly there is talk of trading Moore ๐Ÿ˜‰

C’mon now, you have to admit, looking at it objectively, that was some pretty funny shyt ๐Ÿ˜‰

Nope, not dissin Tannehill in the slightest. Actually, like you guys “sticking up” for him, I was ‘sticking up” for Moore!

    Let the Games BEGIN!

  27. thavafin Says:

    Odin
My post was more aimed towards comments read on “the other” site. Granted I did see yours just after that ๐Ÿ˜‰
More than anything probably my fault for reading comments over there. I don’t think Moore should be cut at all to be honest with you. He is a quality veteran backup and that’s a situation a lot of teams aren’t fortunate to have. Honestly if I am going to cut Moore or Garrard then I cut Garrard (if he doesn’t win starting job). But I would keep both through the season. I can understand Phins “love” for Moore though. I distinctly remember several items close by my lazyboy being thown at the tv because of Moore last year.

  28. Kris Says:

    Odin….

Point taken….about the lack of CONVO in here….

but lets face it….Ohio is my man 50 GRAND and all……but he doesn’t have any sources…and he can’r break any news…..

So Armando’s evil monopoly will continue to get more hits in an hour than we can do here in a day…..

Don’t fight it….it only hurts when you struggle…shhhhh…..let the evil empire wash over you…..

  29. Phins78 Says:

odinseye I wasn’t talking about you either. You’re very tame compared to the people I was referring too. And for the record I wanted to trade Moore as soon as I found out Garrard was beating him in practice! (half joking) Not a huge fan. And then I watched some film and sure enough he was throwing that “wobble ball” that I’ve come accustomed to seeing. And then another fumble today. I don’t even care about the interceptions that any of them throw, that’s going to happen in camp. It’s the freaking fumbles that are the worst. He just has never been able to protect the ball.

But still hoping he just starts tearing it up, only benefits the team. He has a little over two weeks so he better start Wed.

  30. Kris Says:

Why does Hartline seem like the CHANNING CROWDER of WRs….

Always hurt…..always sidelined in camp…and he had the nerve to talk trash to Henne on the field,,,,,wtf is up with that……

  31. Jon Says:

Thav, Odin, Craig……..anyone else I missed calling me out…….you guys are right. I’ve been a let down even to myself in here lately. I know you guys keep coming back, I see the numbers on my stats page.

I promise to try to get more fresh articles in here on a more frequent basis. (inbetween painting the baby room!)

    Thanks again guys.

    Go phins

    No worries Jon.

  33. phins78 Says:

Odinseye, David Hyde is stealing your story ideas! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Seriously though it’s hilarious you asked the question of when Tannehill should start and Hyde then wrote an article exactly about that. And he has professional opinions written in there that you will be interested in. Check it out when you get a chance at the Sentinel, good read.
